Richmond Welcomes Global Quality Assurance Delegates
Author: Richmond American University London
Richmond recently hosted delegates from the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education’s (QAA) International Quality Assurance Programme (IQAP) to our Chiswick Park Campus, marking the third consecutive year we have hosted the prestigious visit. The event provided a valuable forum for sharing areas of best practice and exploring how quality assurance frameworks can be adapted to diverse local contexts.
More than 20 delegates from across the globe joined Richmond for in-depth discussions on higher education quality assurance, the current challenges facing institutions internationally, and key lessons learned from Transnational Education activities. Our Quality Assurance and Collaborative Provision team led the session, fielding a wide range of thoughtful questions from delegates, spanning due diligence and institutional approvals to audits, rankings and measuring success.
President and Vice Chancellor of Richmond, Professor Phil Deans, opened the event with a welcome address. He spoke to the unique landscape within which Richmond operates, namely navigating our dual US/UK identity. Safina Allidina, our Deputy Registrar of Quality Assurance, spoke about Richmond’s challenges of assuring quality with transnational partners, and presented a case study of one of our partnerships.
Our continued involvement in the IQAP reflects the university’s longstanding commitment to quality assurance and its active role in the international higher education community. Professor Deans serves on the Board of the QAA, one of the world’s leading quality assurance bodies, further strengthening the institution’s relationship with the agency.
We would like to extend our thanks to the QAA for their continued partnership. To find out more about the QAA’s International Quality Assurance Programme, visit their website.
