Richmond have successfully validated a programme delivered by Jiangxi Institute of Technology (JXIT), a leading private undergraduate institution in mainland China, with a strong reputation for applied education and industry-focused programmes.
Following a rigorous review process and close collaboration between both institutions on academic scrutiny and quality assurance, including a validation event held in April 2026, Richmond has formally validated the JXIT BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering programme.
Richmond and JXIT have built a successful academic collaboration over the past few years. Marking another significant milestone in this partnership, the newly approved BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering programme becomes the eighth Richmond UK-validated programme at JXIT.
The validation panel was highly impressed by this programme, commending its comprehensive and thoughtful approach to student wellbeing, strong commitment to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI), and a carefully designed curriculum that responds to both societal and industrial needs. The panel particularly commended the effective integration of practical sessions and industry engagement, which contribute to high levels of student satisfaction, alongside the robust student feedback mechanisms that ensure students’ needs are addressed in a timely manner.
The panel also highlighted the well-structured staff training framework that supports effective teaching and career development, the strong academic infrastructure underpinning the programme’s international outlook, and the clear English language requirements that align with the programme’s international nature and support students’ future success.
“We are absolutely delighted at the successful validation of the BEng Mechanical Engineering at JXIT,” said Kelly Coate, Provost and Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) at Richmond. “We have developed a strong and very valuable partnership with our colleagues at JXIT and we will look forward to working more closely with them over the coming years.”
The validation of this programme reflects the continued strength of the Richmond-JXIT partnership and a shared ambition to deliver high-quality international education that responds to the future needs of the engineering profession.
With its strong academic foundation and student-centred approach, the programme will support the development of capable, globally minded graduates while further advancing the partnership’s role in creating diverse opportunities through collaborative provisions.
