A recent visit to China has strengthened collaboration between Richmond American University London and CEG partner institutions, while providing insight into current trends in the Chinese higher education sector. The delegation included Professor Phil Deans, President and Vice-Chancellor; Maria Pavlocheva, Director of Marketing, Recruitment and Communications; Adam Charlton, Head of Student Recruitment; and Wei Peng, Head of Business Development.
Discussions focused on programme development, student recruitment, and opportunities to deepen institutional cooperation across key partnerships. Engagements with the CEG network in China, including Guangzhou College of Applied Sciences, Chongqing Institute of Foreign Studies, Jiangxi Institute of Technology and Haikou Univeristy of Economics, reinforced existing relationships and supported collaboration on joint programmes, summer schools, and recruitment initiatives.
At Jiangxi Institute of Technology, meetings with senior academic leaders and CEG founder Yu Guo centred on academic development and China–UK educational cooperation. The delegation also delivered sessions for students covering academic pathways, postgraduate study options, application processes, and international student life.
The visit further advanced the Student Mobility Partnership, with discussions highlighting opportunities to expand curriculum collaboration and student exchange programmes, while strengthening academic integration and participation in joint initiatives.
Participation in the China International Education Exhibition Tour (CIEET) in Beijing and Shanghai provided additional insight into evolving international education trends and student mobility patterns.
Overall, the visit illustrated the importance of TNE to Richmond and supported clearer strategic alignment with regional partners, with an emphasis on targeted collaboration, enhanced institutional visibility, and more structured engagement across China.
