Calling young film makers

If you’re age 18 or under and interested in film making, then you could enter a film making competition based in Chiswick.
The competition judges will be two of the biggest names in British film and theatre – Colin Firth, long term resident of Chiswick and star of many films and TV series (Pride and Prejudice, Shakespeare in Love, Bridget Jones ‘s Diary, Love Actually, Mamma Mia! and most recently Supernova and Empire of Light), along with theatre director Michael Attenborough (son of Richard and nephew of David), who is Director Emeritus of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
The deadline for entries is 12pm on Friday 1 September.

The top three films from the competition will be showcased at a special screening as part of the Chiswick In Film Festival which is taking place from Friday 29 September – Sunday 1 October.
This action-packed weekend will include some fantastic in-person Q&A screening events. You can meet Shaun the Sheep in person with animator Will Becher from Aardman Animations. Ricky Tomlinson will be there talking about cult football comedy Mike Bassett, England Manager, with sports journalist Mihir Bose and the film’s creator, Chiswick resident Rob Sprackling.
A year on from the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Chiswick Cinema will be playing the film The Queen and talking about it with producer, Chiswick resident Andy Harries, and director Sir Stephen Frears. And they will also be showing Victim, the 1961 Dirk Bogarde film shot in Chiswick, with scenes shot at St Nicholas Church and along Chiswick Mall.
