Semester Internship Programme: Fall and Spring

The Semester Internship programme includes:

A 10-week internship programme (120 hours per semester)
Two to three additional 4 US credit courses of your choice.

The internship

For your internship programme, you can choose from four different industry-related internships, depending on your major.

COMM 6602 Communications and The Arts
SITS 6602 Science, Innovation and Technology
SOCS 6602 Social Sciences

The Internship is a student work placement that aims to provide students with the experience of working in a discipline-related industry. It provides students with an experiential learning opportunity in which to develop intellectual, professional, and personal skills and prepares students to function effectively in culturally diverse working environments across a range of career paths and employment sectors. Internships are supervised by faculty, and each student will also complete a series of learning activities throughout the internship. These activities are designed to help students reflect on personal development and key skills attained, the benefits gained from the internship experience, and to shape and determine goals for future career pathways.

The 4-credit London course/s

Students are required to take at least two, or a maximum of three, additional 4-credit courses alongside the internship. Please see the course list here: Fall 2026 Course List.

If you are interested in booking housing at The Stay Club – North Acton, please get in touch with our Student Affairs team by clicking the button below. We’ll provide you with more information, answer any questions you have, and provide you with a pre-booking form to complete.

All Richmond students must book directly with the University (not Stay Club) in order to reserve a room within the University’s allocation at North Acton. Please note that Stay Club’s external website displays their public availability, which is entirely separate from the University’s reserved allocation.

Academic entry requirements

The University accepts a wide range of international undergraduate degree award qualifications. Occasionally the University may invite candidates to attend an interview.

To apply for the Summer Internship programme you must submit evidence of your academic standing by providing the following:

Your current university transcript

45 credits completed with a minimum GPA of 3.0 at the time of application

One strong academic reference

A clean disciplinary record

You will also need to agree to apply for a student route visa (required as part of any work placement in the UK) and meet our English language requirements.

Please note: Evidence must be either a scanned copy of the original document or an official certified copy. Final acceptance onto the programme is at the discretion of the Internships Office.

English Language Requirements

IELTS Academic – 6.0 overall with minimum of 5.5 in each of the four components

TOEFL iBT: 79 overall with 17 in Listening, 18 in Reading, 17 in Writing, 20 in Speaking

Alternative English Language qualifications

We also accept a range of alternative qualifications to demonstrate your level of English Language proficiency. Validity: For admissions and CAS purposes, period of validity for all country-specific English language waivers is 2 years.

Fees & funding

The fee includes the 10-week internship and 2 or 3 courses

£8,500 for direct students not applying through a formalised University Partner

£6300* for students applying through a formalised University Partner

*An additional 15% discount might apply to selected University Partners

Upon receipt of your application, we will email you with an invoice and instructions on how to make your tuition fee deposit. You will receive an Internship application form and further instructions after you have submitted your application online.
