Richmond Hosts Digital Creative Network West Open House
Author: Richmond American University London
We welcomed guests to our Chiswick Park campus last week as part of Digital Creative Network West (DCNW), an initiative bringing together anchor organisations, startups, and academia to accelerate creative innovation across West London.
Hosted in partnership with West London Business and Nexus Upstream, we opened our doors for a guided tour of our creative spaces, with groups of guests given the opportunity to see student projects first-hand in the university’s Film and Photography Studio and Podcast suite. Richmond is located at Chiswick Business Park, at the heart of one of the world’s most significant creative industry clusters.
Later in the evening, a team of Richmond staff and students joined fellow attendees at Venture X Chiswick Park for a programme of talks and networking. Speakers included Rob Fowler, Director of Business Development at Brompton Technology, and Stuart Wright, Chief Technology Officer at SEGA, with discussions centered on creative innovation, screen industries, and the thriving West London creative cluster.
āIt was a fantastic opportunity for our students to meet people from the local creative industries,ā Richard Bevan, our Programme Director for Film and Photography said. āOne of our students, Yasmine OrrĆŗ, was able to present her short documentary made during our Video Production class, demonstrating her stills capturing professional quality interviews in our film studio, and her knowledge of post-production using the software DaVinci Resolve.ā
The Digital Creative Network brings together the breadth of creative industry activity across the subregion, from major studios and international screen corporates to emerging startups and academic institutions, with the shared aim of growing the supply of skilled workers, increasing studio space, and fostering sustainability across the sector.
