Taking ideology seriously in the time of plague: insights versus distractions
Dr Rafal Soborski, Professor of International Politics at Richmond, has his article on COVID-19, neoliberalism and prospects for the political left published in a peer-reviewed open access journal, Acta Academica: Critical views on society, culture and politics.
The article employs insights from the study of ideology to shed light on the political aspects of the pandemic and categorise policy responses to it. It argues that the dominant neoliberal approach is unfit for the challenges associated with the crisis but also that an understanding of the ideological premises of neoliberalism may help in formulating urgently needed alternatives.
