The Third Superhero Project hosted in Essen, Germany was an interdisciplinary event of over 20 different nationalities that bridged together academia, fandom and industry to discuss the evolving superhero phenomenon in film, television, comics, games and popular cultural trends. Dr. Turner’s paper explored the relationship between Superheroes and the Far Right, in terms of the rise of populism and crises of masculine identity. The conference marks the beginning of exciting new possibilities to legitimise and expand the subject of Superhero Studies. Official Conference info link.
