Author: Richmond American University London
As part of the Coaching and Team Management course within the BA International Sports Management degree, students from Richmond International Academic and Soccer Academy (RIASA) have recently participated in coaching activities at the Calcio Football Centre. This initiative offered a unique and invaluable opportunity for students to put their knowledge into practice. It was a perfect chance for them to develop further understanding of theoretical coaching knowledge in a dynamic, real-world environment.
Organised by RIASA instructor Ross Lebeter, the collaboration with Calcio Football Centre allowed students to connect with professionals in the sport industry and see what it takes to manage teams and training in real life. In addition, they gained insights into operational practices, stakeholder management and the nuances of athlete development. These interactions are instrumental in developing key employability skills such as communication, leadership, adaptability and problem-solving.
Experiences like this are a big part of what makes RIASA unique. Overall, this opportunity exemplifies RIASA’s commitment to experiential learning, helping students build the confidence and competence to transition seamlessly into the professional world. Not only that, but the communication and leadership skills make them highly employable and ready for careers in coaching, sport development and team management.
