Winner announced of The Ana R. Jeff Art Scholarship
Author: Richmond American University London
We’re delighted to announce that the winner of the inaugural Ana R. Jeff Art Scholarship is Nika Krykun, a second year student taking BA Film & Photography with a minor in Art History & Visual Culture at the University.
This scholarship is in honour of Ana R. Jeff, mother of Richmond alumni Sean M. Steadman, who graduated in 2014 with a BA in Art & Design and then went into the MA programme in Art History & Visual Culture. Thanks to generous funding of the four-year scholarship by Sean, Nika has won an award of £500, having completed a submission about how her degree programme will help Nika achieve her career objectives, which included details of an exhibition she has done recently with two fellow artists from Ukraine.
Nika said about the award, “Winning this scholarship means a lot to me, especially personally as an artist I crave my art to be appreciated, so I do value winning this scholarship, it is one more little win in my career.”
Dr Susan Pell, Interim Head of Department for Communications and The Arts, said, “We were all very impressed with Nika’s submission for this scholarship which highlighted the journey that Nika has been on, having to leave Ukraine at the age of 17 and then continuing her academic path at Richmond American University London, where she has excelled both academically and personally.”
While Sean was in the UK last year, he gave a really interesting talk to students and staff on his life and career since graduation. He has also generously donated some of his paintings to the University which are now on display at the campus.
The scholarship will be launched again in September 2024 for students over the next academic year. See the Student Affairs website for more information.
