Richmond Welcomes Students from China for Summer School Experience

Over two packed weeks in July, Richmond American University London was proud to welcome a group of visiting students from Haikou University of Economics in China for a bespoke Summer School programme.
Delivered in partnership with our international education collaborators, the Summer School offered a unique academic and cultural experience, blending classroom learning with immersive trips across London and the UK.
Students joined lectures delivered by Richmond’s faculty, exploring topics on Shakespeare, Sherlock Holmes, Downton Abbey, and Harry Potter. These sessions gave students the chance to connect classroom learning with cultural experiences across the UK.
Outside the classroom, they toured London landmarks from Westminster and St Paul’s Cathedral to King’s Cross Station, where they posed for photos at Platform 9¾, and explored the Sherlock Holmes walking tour and pub. The group also travelled further afield to Windsor Castle, Eton College, Canterbury, the White Cliffs of Dover, Oxford, and the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

The programme culminated in a graduation ceremony on our Chiswick Park campus, where students reflected on their learning, shared insights with faculty and staff, and received certificates to mark their achievement.
Wei Peng, Head of International Student Recruitment (China & East Asia), said:
“This summer programme is a great example of how Richmond’s transatlantic model and global outlook translate into real experiences. We were delighted to welcome these talented students to London and hope this gives them the confidence and inspiration to explore international study further.”
The visit builds on Richmond’s growing links with partner institutions across China and continues our long-standing commitment to cross-cultural learning, global mobility, and international collaboration.
