Richmond American University London and Arts Educational Schools (ArtsEd) have begun talks to establish shared workshops, arts programmes and summer schools for global students.
Both institutions marked their intent to collaborate in liberal arts and performing arts and create international learning opportunities for students, by signing a memorandum of understanding.
“I’m genuinely excited that this is the first partnership I’m announcing under my new principalship, and even more excited that it’s a global partnership. This new partnership speaks to what is distinct about our two institutions [the arts?], and where we work closely with our local communities”. Professor Louise Jackson, Principal of ArtsEd.
Kelly Coate, Richmond’s Provost and Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic, signed the official documents with Dr Louise Jackson, Principal for ArtsEd, commenting that:
‘Our new partnership with ArtsEd offers so many exciting opportunities for creative collaborations that will be of benefit to both students and staff. We are looking forward to seeing our relationship grow’.
The signing was attended and celebrated by senior colleagues and staff, as well as curious students who expressed their interest in future opportunities for arts education and collaborating with students from ArtsEd. Staff and students from both institutions enjoyed refreshments at Richmond, and a student showcase at ArtsEd afterwards.
The event signals the birth of a specialist global arts programme for global audiences and sets an excellent example of how universities are collaborating with local education partners.
