Richmond Professor presents papers at three conferences in Fall 2021

Dr Rafal Soborski, Professor of International Politics at Richmond, has had a busy conferencing period in Fall 2021.
In September he was part of the panel Globalization, Pandemic and Post-Apocalypse organised as part of the Global Studies Association Colloquium (https://gsauk.co/). Rafal is a committee member of the GSA, and the online colloquium series replaced the annual conference of the Association in 2021.
Then, in October he presented his paper on Prefigurative Activism Today at an International Conference organised by University of Lorraine (Nancy, France) around the theme Liberalism and/or socialism: tensions, exchanges and convergences from the 19th century to today. Rafal’s attendance and presentation was partly funded by Richmond’s Research and Faculty Development award.
Finally, on 18-19 December, Rafal presented at the 15th Forum of the World Association for Political Economy which took place in Shanghai. Rafal joined the Forum online to deliver his paper The Political Economy of the Covid-19 Pandemic through the Prism of Ideology: Populism, Neoliberalism, Socialism.
He commented, “It was great to have the opportunity again to exchange ideas with other scholars after so many conferences were cancelled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The academic community is finding new models of conferencing but hopefully onsite conferences will return fully alongside online meetings once the pandemic is over.”
