We are delighted to announce an education partnership with Blackmagic Design, giving our students and staff access to industry leading hardware and software.
Manufacturers of creative video technology, Blackmagic Design’s Education Partner Program aims to support and develop leading Media and Broadcast focused institutions with dedicated resources around Blackmagic technologies. This partnership will empower Richmond’s students to become confident, experienced, and industry-ready graduates.
Students in our BA Film programme and related courses will get free access to Blackmagic Design’s digital film cameras and DaVinci Resolve Studio, an editing software with tools for colour grading, visual effects and motion graphics to use in their studies.
These resources will be used in our Cove Film & Photography Studio as well as our Apple Mac Lab and library, giving students direct access to industry standard technology and practice on and off-set. Students and staff will also benefit from Blackmagic masterclasses, workshops, and opportunities to participate in events and competitions.

Richmond’s Richard Bevan, Programme Director for Film, was behind this partnership and commented, “Our partnership will give students hands-on experience with DaVinci Resolve, with dedicated studio licenses across our creative labs. Blackmagic’s monthly online masterclasses provide incredible learning opportunities, allowing students to deepen their technical skills and better realize their creative ambitions. Not only will this knowledge allow students to better realise their ideas and ambitions for their filmmaking, it will also help to prepare them for future employment in industry.”
Wendy Baugh, Education Relationship Manager EMEA at Blackmagic Design, added: “We are committed to equipping the next generation of filmmakers with the tools and training they need to succeed. Through our Education Partner Program, Richmond students will gain hands-on experience with DaVinci Resolve and our latest camera technology, ensuring they graduate with industry-ready skills.”
Richmond students will experience their first masterclass this month, “Exploring Trackers in DaVinci Resolve” with colourist Jordi Molina, with a plentiful schedule of masterclasses for Fall 2025.
