Author: Richmond American University London
Richmond’s latest Campus Crime Report shows no primary crimes, hate crimes, violence against women (VAWA) have been reported for the second year running, reassuring safety for the campus community: staff, students, visitors, and parents and guardians.
Report findings
For the reporting period of 2024/5, Richmond continues to be a safe place to study and work, with no reported primary, hate or VAWA crime, and effective safety measures at both the Chiswick Park campus in West London and Weetwood Hall in Leeds. At Richmond’s main campus building, for example, “24-hour CCTV coverage, controlled access via ID cards, and security services are in full operation at all times.”
Arlene MacManus, Head of Facilities at Richmond, responds to the report findings.
“We are extremely pleased with the outcome of the latest Clery report, which reflects the continued hard work and commitment of our Estates & Facilities and security teams, alongside our partners at Chiswick Enjoy-Work and our colleagues supporting our Leeds campus. Creating a safe, well-managed campus is a collective effort, and this result is a testament to the strong collaboration and vigilance shown every day. Richmond will continue to invest in robust security measures and clear communication to ensure safety remains a top priority for everyone on campus.”
What is the Clery Act?
All universities that receive financial aid (FAFSA) must publish crime statistics on or close to campus to comply with federal (US) law. This also includes fire safety information where applicable, missing student notifications (for those hosting accommodation), and procedures for disciplinary actions. The U.S Department of Education lists further information for students, parents and institutions here.
