Author: Richmond American University London
Join us for a guest talk from visiting Professor, and Richmond alumnus, Louis de Luxembourg who will explore the intricate relationship between visual culture, dyslexia, and communication.
Wednesday March 19th, 1pm-2pm in Classroom 1 (Chiswick Park Campus)
This presentation will delve into how visual culture – encompassing art, media, symbols, and spatial design – intersects with dyslexia, a condition affecting information integration and neural processing.
Louis de Luxembourg will highlight the unique qualities associated with dyslexic thinking, including enhanced logical reasoning, creativity, and intuition. He will also address the challenges faced by individuals with dyslexia, such as processing isolated details and maintaining self-confidence. The lecture will examine the impact of images, propaganda, and contemporary art on dyslexic cognition, and discuss how dyslexics can tap various artistic mediums for self-expression. Additionally, the presentation will touch upon Lacanian psychoanalytic concepts and encourage reflection on the communication of emotions, particularly within the context of dyslexic thought processes.
Louis de Luxembourg brings a wealth of expertise in neurodiversity, dyslexia education, professional coaching, and mediation. He currently serves as an Administrator at La Fondation du Grand Duc et de la Grande Duchesse and Head of Neurodiversity at Magrid. Specializing in fostering institutional collaboration and advancing neurodiversity expertise, Louis holds an MA in Psychosocial Studies from Birkbeck University and a BA in Communications from Richmond University. Fluent in English, French, and Luxembourgish, with proficiency in German and Spanish, Louis combines diverse educational insights with a passion for social inclusion and innovative problem-solving.
