Congratulations to all the Honours Night 2022 award winners!

Author: Richmond American University London

After being held virtually for the last two years, Richmond’s Honours Night returned in person recently, marking the 30th year of the event which highlights outstanding student achievements at the University both in the classroom and through contributions to the Richmond community. Over 40 different categories of awards were presented, the details of which are shown below, including all the academic award winners.

Dr Allison Cole-Stutz, Vice President for Student Affairs, said, “The students we are recognising have worked tirelessly to create a positive, productive, creative and welcoming environment on campus and on-line and in doing so have shown responsibility, leadership and plenty of determination.”

One of the evening’s highlights was the presentation of awards given to students in recognition of service to the University community:

  • The Audra Longley Award
    • This award was given to Maitreya Ravenstar in recognition of the contributions of a lower division student to the University community.
  • The Dean of Students Award
    • Hadi Saad won this award in recognition of an upper division student’s contribution to the University at large and was described as being, “Always interested in finding ways to involve others in the campus community. He is resourceful, thoughtful, creative and very able.”
  • The Allison Cole-Stutz Leadership Award
    • Tatiana Carboni was awarded this honour, having been described by Dr Cole-Stutz as, “An active part of the University’s campaign to support students’ mental health and wellness. She is a peer mentor, a peer tutor, a club leader, an active event planner and my go-to person for just about everything student-related.”

Other Awards included the Best First Year Student Award which was given to Arianna Zampognaro, who was highlighted for consistently performing well academically.

Best New Club went to Semphung Limbu for creating 9 Pentacles, a club for students interested in spirituality and self-care. Semphung’s work was described by Dr Alex Harden, Associate Vice President of Student Affairs as being, “A real example of bringing students closer together around a shared interest.”

Roshawn Foster was presented with the Campus Hero Award by Dr Cole-Stutz for his, “Abilities in the care and support he’s given others in his community and for being always in the right place at the right time.”

We were delighted to also host our students in person from the Richmond International Academic and Soccer Academy, who joined us from the RIASA campus in Leeds. In addition to the group’s awards for outstanding academic success, Kirsty Ibbitson, the Student Affairs lead for the RIASA Programme, proudly presented the RIASA Leadership Award was to Noah Carr. Kirsty told the audience: “Noah has been on my student leadership team for three years and has been the President of the RIASA Student Government for two years. COVID has meant that it hasn’t been an easy time to be in either of these roles but Noah rose to the challenge, adapting well to support his fellow students through those challenging times whether he was here in the UK or back home in the States supporting people remotely.”

We are hugely proud of our students’ achievements and wish all our award recipients very warm congratulations once again.
