Hello everyone!
The past couple of weeks have been a whirlwind for me. Over the past 10 days, I’ve finished my self-isolation, gone for a park walk outside for the first time since March, and finishing my first MBA module!
The first thing on my agenda after coming out of self-isolation was taking a nice long walk in one of London’s many parks. I know this is cliché, but my favourite central London park is definitely Hyde Park. I love that I can take a variety of paths every time I go and that there’s so much wildlife surrounding the vicinity. When I flew back to Manila for lockdown, I wasn’t given much opportunity to go for outdoor walks and activities, unlike the 1 hour of outdoor exercise permitted during lockdown here in the UK.
Taking a walk in Hyde Park never felt so liberating and, thankfully, the weather was so pleasant – the sky was clear, and the sun was out (which was so unlike the usual gloomy British weather). I walked to my favourite coffee spot in Soho called Gails and felt so happy to be reunited with my favourite carrot cake in London. I then headed to Covent Garden where I saw a huge mirror ball in front of the main square and took that opportunity to snap a picture of the sun setting behind me! This was just what I needed before heading into a week consisting of a deadline and an exam for my Global Marketing module.
I really enjoyed attending Dr Gannon’s classes over the past few weeks and I felt like it was the perfect module to help me transition into the MBA degree program. Towards the end of the week, we got our group project results back and I was so giddy to see that my group and I got an A! Working on this project didn’t feel like work at all because my groupmates were so supportive of one another and we got along so well. As I’m typing this, we were just sent emails about our first day back on campus and what to expect in terms of safety measures, how to get there, and what to bring.
I look forward to starting a new set of modules this November, developing my skills and knowledge, and meeting more people on my course and beyond (while maintaining all the social distancing measures). In the meantime, I’m doing some light non-academic reading and making use of my free time by taking walks outdoors on the occasional period of the day when it’s not raining too heavily.
