Dr Laura Smith, Adjunct Assistant Professor at Richmond, has contributed a chapter to a book on Trump which has just been published by Routledge.
Dr Smith’s chapter is entitled Trump and Congress within the book, The Trump Administration, The President’s Legacy Within and Beyond America, edited by Toby S James.
The book aims to look beyond the sensationalist tweets and news stories of the Trump presidency to examine the policy effects during Donald Trump’s time in office.
The chapter by Dr Smith is part of an extensive and authoritative set of studies evaluating Donald Trump’s impact on American society, including American democracy, Congress, the Supreme Court, the economy, the COVID-19 pandemic, the environment, American soft power and the international system.
Dr Smith is a presidential history who teaches on the American presidency at Richmond. Her research analyses precedent in the expansive use of presidential power during crises in modern times. She has published original research into 19th, 20th and 21st century presidencies. She also enjoys commenting on current affairs and writing op-eds for outlets such as The Washington Post.
