Jelena Pivovarova, programme support manager and course leader for our Russian history and politics class, recently attended the second UK-Ukraine International Twinning Conference in Warsaw, Poland.
Entitled, ‘Universities’ role in post-war recovery’, the event aimed to honour the extraordinary resilience of Ukrainian higher education and the immense support from international partners.
The event was hosted by the British Embassy to Poland and Vistula University, Poland. At the conference a number of Twinning universities reported on their joint programmes and initiatives as well as discussed new projects.
Key speakers included Martyn Cushing (Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, Director of Department for Science and Innovation, the UK), Mychailo Wynnyckkyi (Deputy Minister for Education Ukraine), Vivienne Stern CEO, Universities UK), and representatives from both British and Ukrainian universities.
Richmond has been actively participating in the Twinning initiative since 2022.
This work continues the award-winning efforts of the International Programme team at the University together with Jelena, who has played a pivotal role in assisting Ukrainian students to be able to continue with their studies in London after the invasion by Putin’s Russia.
