In the lead up to our 2025 Graduation we talked to Iman who will be graduating with a MA in Luxury Brand Management.

Where did your journey to university begin?

My journey with Richmond began in 2019 when I transferred as an international student midway through my undergraduate studies to pursue a Bachelor’s in Fashion Management and Marketing. I later returned in 2023 to complete my Master’s in Luxury Brand Management.

Why did you choose Richmond and your degree?

I chose to study at Richmond because of my aspiration to study in the UK, a country renowned for its diversity and status as a global business hub. This experience allowed me to immerse myself in new cultures and collaborate with people from various backgrounds, which has been invaluable for my career. My experience at Richmond was particularly rewarding, as I enjoyed working with a diverse group of peers and benefited from exceptional support from professors who helped shape my academic and professional development. Additionally, Richmond’s partnership with Vogue College of Fashion offered unique opportunities to learn directly from leading industry professionals, further enriching my education and career readiness.

What has your experience been like, in and out of class?

My experience at Richmond was both enriching and deeply rewarding. In class, I was exposed to learning that encouraged critical thinking and creativity. Outside the classroom, being in London offered me countless opportunities to engage with the city’s vibrant, multicultural environment. From visiting world-renowned museums and exhibitions to participating in events across the city, much of my learning extended beyond traditional academic settings. These experiences broadened my perspective and added a dynamic, real world dimension to my education.

Were you involved in any clubs, societies, student groups or activities outside your course?

Yes, I was a member of the Fashion Society, and one of the highlights was assisting in the student-run fashion show. This creative and collaborative experience gave me the chance to work with my peers in a hands-on setting, blending our diverse ideas and talents. It added depth to my time at Richmond by fostering teamwork, creativity, and leadership skills in a way that complemented my academic studies.

What are you most proud of from your time here?

I’m most proud of my involvement in Richmond’s partnership with Vogue College of Fashion. Writing articles on leading industry professionals and exploring forward-thinking topics like artificial intelligence in the fashion world gave me invaluable exposure to real-world applications of what I was studying. These experiences pushed me intellectually and professionally, and they remain some of the most rewarding highlights of my academic journey.

How has Richmond shaped you?

Richmond has shaped me in profound ways. The combination of real-world industry exposure and the support of an inspiring community helped me grow into a more confident, creative, and globally aware individual. It challenged me to think critically, communicate across cultures, and collaborate meaningfully. These skills that will stay with me as I move forward.

What’s next for you – career, study, travel or something else?

After completing my postgraduate internship at Floral Street during my studies, I was offered a position with the company, and I am currently working as an Online Assistant in the E-commerce team.

What would you say to someone considering studying here?

My advice to current or prospective students is to make the most of Richmond’s unique resources and opportunities. Engage actively in the classroom, especially with industry leaders as they offer invaluable real-world experiences. Build strong connections with professors and peers as they can become key mentors and collaborators in your journey. Finally, immerse yourself in London’s diverse culture and professional network to gain insights that will set you apart in your career.
