As we celebrate UK Black History Month in 2024, the theme “Reclaiming Narratives” invites Black communities to take centre stage as storytellers, historians, and guardians of their cultural legacy. This year’s focus encourages us to honour the depth and diversity of Black experiences, highlighting voices that have too often been sidelined in the telling of history.
Throughout October, London is alive with events that showcase the richness of Black history and culture in the UK. From gallery tours to poetry evenings, there are plenty of opportunities to explore, engage, and reflect on the contributions and stories of Black Britons.
Here are just some of the many events taking place across the city this month.
