Richmond American University London is delighted to welcome Vanessa Carreras as our new Deputy Vice Chancellor of Finance and Operations.
Kelly Coate, our Provost and Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic commented, “We are delighted to extend a very warm Richmond welcome to Vanessa. I know from her first few days on campus that she is very sociable and friendly – as well as bringing a huge amount of relevant experience to Richmond. I’m very much looking forward to working closely with her as we move into the next phase of Richmond’s development.”
Vanessa told us, “I am very pleased to be joining the RAUL team and I cannot wait to see how I can help navigate the next stage of its development. I have been made to feel truly welcome.”
In this role, Vanessa will have responsibility for the finances and operations departments at Richmond.
“Having gained experience at an institution that delivered UK and US provisions, I felt a strong synergy with the ethos of Richmond. Having spent the last 12 years purely in financial roles, I was excited to consider an opportunity that allowed me to go back into expanding operations, where I hope I can leverage my experience to support the wider teams.”
In her previous role, Vanessa worked as Financial Controller, and later Director of Finance, at Northeastern University – London (formerly New College of the Humanities [NCH]). In her nearly 8 years at NU, she set up and led all the finance and data governance functions. She built a team from scratch, and played a key role in the due diligence work that led to the Northeastern acquisition. Prior to that, she was the Financial Controller for Havering College Further and Higher Education for 5 years.
