Student Screening at Chiswick Cinema
Author: Richmond American University London
Recently, our students showcased their work on the big screen at Chiswick Cinema.
The event brought together students from the 6000-level Advanced Digital Video class, who presented an eclectic mix of short films. With no set brief, the showcase encouraged students to explore diverse interests and creative styles. The Chiswick Cinema’s lobby excitedly buzzed as students, friends, and faculty gathered to celebrate the culmination of hard work and creative collaboration. There was a palpable sense of anticipation and triumph as the audience awaited the screening.
Among the students featured were Kylah Snowden (4th year, Film & Photography), who said, “It was exciting for me because I was able to visually showcase my creative process and vision on a big screen.” Janyla Weaver (3rd year, Digital Communication & Social Media) added, “It’s exciting to be in the background watching my friends shoot and edit, then see it on the big screen. It makes me a proud friend to see what’s next for them!”
The module leader, Richard Bevan, Programme Director for Film, was in attendance and expressed his pride in the students’ achievements. He highlighted the importance of providing real-world opportunities to showcase their creative work. Throughout the evening, his support and encouragement were evident as he celebrated the hard work and dedication shown by the students.
The programme featured a range of original short films, highlighting each student’s unique perspective and approach. The evening offered both a platform for students to display their talents and a chance for the Richmond community to come together in support of emerging filmmakers.
Richmond thanks the Student Affairs Team and Chiswick Cinema for generously planning and hosting the event. Seeing students’ hard work celebrated in such a professional and inspiring setting was fantastic.
