Nika Krykun nominated for Photo London x Hahnemühle Student Award
Author: Richmond American University London
We are proud to congratulate one of our photography students, Nika Krykun, on being nominated for the Photo London x Hahnemühle Student Award, with announcing ceremony in May.
Photo London is an annual fair produced by Candlestar, presenting “the best historic and vintage works while also spotlighting fresh perspectives in photography” with public installations and exhibitions.
Now in its third year, the Photo London x Hahnemühle Student Award champions emerging talent from photography courses in UK universities. Designed to bring early-career photographers’ work to international attention, the award continues Photo London’s commitment to supporting new voices in the industry.
Nika will present a series called “Svitlo (Light)” – portraits of Ukrainian women artists who are now based in London. The series was originally made as an assignment for Photography Theory and Practice classes.
Nika and the other shortlisted artists will have their work exhibited as part of a special display at Photo London (15–18 May 2025), produced in collaboration with Hahnemühle Certified Studio Spectrum Photographic. They’ll also receive VIP access to the fair.
Richard Bevan, our Programme Director for Film, tells us, “We are excited and proud that Nika has been shortlisted for the Photo London x Hahnemühle Student Award. Nika’s work is exceptional and shows that our student’s work can stand up alongside that of other UK institutions. Showing at Photo London presents an exciting opportunity for Nika to present her work to the wider professional photographic community in one of the most prestigious events in the photographic calendar.”
One winner will be announced at a special ceremony on Saturday 17 May and awarded a visit to the Hahnemühle mill in Germany, with the opportunity to print a body of work.
You can get your tickets for the exhibition at photolondon.org.
