The OBE is an award given to people who have made a major contribution to their community or country, or work that has gained a national profile. This prestigious honour is a testament to Dr. Fisher’s exceptional contributions to all aspects of bank policy at the decision-making level, with interests in monetary policy, financial markets and climate change, marking a significant milestone in his distinguished career.

At Richmond, Dr. Fisher has been a Visiting Professor in Business and Economics since 2011, giving frequent talks on subjects from gold to sustainability to monetary policy. He received an honorary doctorate from Richmond in 2015.
Dr. Fisher told us, “I was delighted to receive an OBE, not least because it recognises the invaluable work of the DMO in making sure that the government’s financing needs are met efficiently and effectively, even through periods of market turmoil.”
Please join us in congratulating Dr. Fisher on this incredible achievement.
