Richmond Celebrates Carbon Literacy Success
Author: Richmond American University London
Last week, a group of Richmond’s staff, faculty and students received their certificates for completing Carbon Literacy Training.
This course was offered by the Richmond Business School through our Institute for Corporate Sustainability (ICS) and accredited by The Carbon Literacy Trust. Their aim is to create an awareness of the carbon costs and impacts of everyday activities, and the ability and motivation to reduce emissions, on an individual, community and organisational basis.
As part of the training, participants had to submit a form to evidence their knowledge of carbon reduction – all passed and obtained the certification! The Carbon Literacy Project has provided accreditation to more than 110,000 individuals so far. The training was provided during the COP 29 week, the participants’ certificate has a special mention to the Carbon Literacy Action Day which was organised by the Carbon Literacy Trust in recognition of the new Carbon Literates.
Inma Ramos, Richmond’s lead for PRME and Director of the ICS, facilitated the training as part of the ICS’ wider goal of embedding awareness and implementation of Sustainability Development Goals (SDG) into business practices. She told us, “Not only did the training further awareness on carbon reduction knowledge and strategy, but it also contributed to fostering new sustainability initiatives for Richmond. It was great to see students, staff and faculty sharing and being passionate about a common interest. Watch out for the next training coming up during the Spring term!”
