It’s Black History Month in October in the UK and our newly created Black Student Union are looking forward to raising awareness of the event.
Black History Month is aimed at recognising and celebrating the invaluable contributions of black people to British society. This year’s theme will focus on celebrating the exceptional achievements of black women.
Our Black Student Union would like to get as many students involved as possible in this awareness event so look out for more news over the coming weeks.
“The Black Student Union will conduct a number of activities and projects during the month of October to recognise the contributions made by Black people to our society. We want to draw attention to the outstanding achievements of Black people throughout history and in modern culture through panel discussions, workshops, film screenings, and other educational activities. To better understand the tenacity of Black people, we want everyone to take part in, learn from, and share these experiences. We contribute to making our collective history’s story more inclusive and thorough. Together, we can strengthen the voices and narratives of Black people who have had and are still having a lasting influence on our communities and elsewhere.” Aima Aig-Imoukhuede, President of The Black Student Union.
