It’s a wrap! Students report on guest lecture and film screening

With thanks to Daina and Lauren, studying BA Film Studies and BA Film and Photography, for their report on a Guest Lecture delivered recently by two industry experts focusing on ‘Career Development and Funding Strategies for Film and TV Production’.

The two experts were:

Ian Gibbon – a corporate finance specialist and experienced media business advisor with over 40 years’ experience working with film, television, theatre, music and studio clients
Sam Ampah – who works with production companies and helps to produce their accounts

The event was at the Courthouse Hotel in Soho.

We arrived in a room with free food and drinks where all the guests were talking and greeting one another, here is where we saw Ian Gibbon and Sam Ampah.

Soon after we got to watch the film screening for The Conqueror – Hollywood Fallout by director William Nunez.

It was a very interesting watch, uncovering the accidental disaster that unfolded because of the chosen shooting location for The Conqueror movie.

After the screening everyone arrived back at the initial room to continue talking and networking.

Here Ian introduced us to the director! We got to speak with many different people from the film industry from producers to post-production editors, many were happy to speak with us offering their best advice and even giving us their numbers in case any more opportunities arise!
