CAREERS & INTERNSHIPS

CAREERS & INTERNSHIPS

An internship provides students with exposure to the demands of specific jobs in specific sectors and allows students to learn from professionals in their chosen field. The practical skills and experience that students gain by carrying out an internship not only provide a taste of what it would be like to work in a given sector, but it also greatly increases a student’s employability in an ever-competitive job market.

AN AMERICAN APPROACH
TO LEARNING

AN AMERICAN APPROACH TO LEARNING

We’re enormously proud of our American heritage. Richmond is the only university in the UK where all undergraduate degrees are offered in the American system of education, based in the liberal arts, allowing you to shape your own learning according to your interests and needs.

Following this academic path provides a wealth of opportunities that few UK universities can match.

CAMPUS MAP

ACCOMMODATION OPTIONS

Richmond is a quiet, residential area surrounded by beautiful parkland. The campus is set in a six-acre site at the top of Richmond Hill, with student accommodation located in both the impressive main building and the surrounding buildings.

Main building

Situated in a quiet residential area, and never more than 50 paces from a lecture theatre, the main building is the oldest on the Richmond campus. It’s a real hub of activity for the university, offering a lot of convenience. With something always happening, there’s a relaxing yet vibrant ‘buzz’ about its atmosphere. This is the place to be if you like to mingle with academics and all of the students from across the campus.

Lower Cottage

Sitting snugly to the left as you come in the main entrance to the campus, Lower Cottage is a mere 1 minute walk from the main building. One of our smaller satellite buildings, it’s a cosy residence split over two storeys. It feels like a cottage, and even benefits from its own outside seating area – perfect for studying and socialising in the summer months. There’s even a traditional English pub ‘The Lass o’ Richmond Hill’, just over the road.

Red House

Located on the grounds of the main campus at Richmond Hill, a stone’s throw away from the main building, this three-storey house comes with ‘dabs of character’. Ideal if you prefer not to live in the main building but would like the convenience of being very close to the lecture theatres and everything else the campus offers.

Longley House

Nestled just on the other side of the Richmond campus grounds, Longley House is just a minute’s walk from the main building. While this is one of our smallest satellite buildings it shares its space with an art studio; this is quite the creative building, with quiet, artistic contemplation always going on, making it a great place for reflective study.

Montford House

Montford House is just a three minute walk from the main building and next door to Parkview House. The property has been split into flats, or apartments, with access at either side of the building. It’s ideal if you want to enjoy being part of a smaller community and share a place with just a handful of other students, rather than share with the whole building.

Parkview

Originally a large house, Parkview is Richmond University’s newest student housing and is just a two minute walk from the main building. Set over four storeys, Parkview sits proudly on the main road leading to Richmond, opposite a bus stop, and is next door to Montford House.

KENSINGTON CAMPUS, CENTRAL LONDON

KENSINGTON CAMPUS, CENTRAL LONDON

Our Kensington campus, located in the heart of London, caters for our third and fourth year students, along with our postgraduate students. Places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

ACCOMMODATION OPTIONS

Students may choose to live in University buildings or in off-campus housing of their choice.

Atlantic House

Atlantic House is the main building on the Kensington campus and also the biggest residence, providing accommodation for 115 students. It’s the main student hub, acting as the central administration offices at the Kensington campus and taking care of anything from academic assistance to pastoral care.

Collingham Gardens

Collingham Gardens is a beautiful, Grade II listed building residing in a quiet and highly desirable area of London. It has bags of character, which is something you can’t help but notice on your approach – as you walk up the Victorian tiled entrance.

Ambassador House

Ambassador House sits tall, bold and full of character at numbers 26 and 28 Queens Gate Terrace, approximately halfway down this row of beautiful, old buildings. Not far from this residence are world-renowned museums such as the V&A, Natural History Museum and the Science Museum, so you will never be short of incredible places to visit.
