“Trying to stay busy”

Hi everyone!

I hope you all enjoyed the lovely weather during the Bank Holiday weekend.

I’ve been trying to keep busy since the university year ended as I’ve found this is the best way to stay motivated. I’m not doing Summer school but during the day I work on my dissertation to get a head start on the workload for next term. One of the classes I took this semester, Research Methods, helped me understand how to write a coherent Senior Project. I was due to graduate in Fall but after talking to my academic advisor, I am spreading out my classes and finishing in Spring instead.

Last week I contacted my internship company to ask if I could start earlier than my scheduled date in late July. Luckily, they said yes! I’m happy to say I start my Marketing Assistant role at Together TV on Thursday. Together TV is the only national television channel that inspires viewers to improve their wellbeing and mental health. They specialise in ‘feel good’ motivational and positive programs. Last year another Richmond student did at internship with Together TV and she highly recommended it. I will assist the marketing team by supporting digital and social media activity. I am excited to improve my skillset and gain more experience in the marketing and television industry. Originally, I was supposed to work in their office near Covent Garden but given the current situation, I will be working from home for the foreseeable future. I’m expecting a lot of Zoom calls! Hopefully when restrictions are eased, I may be able to visit the offices. Until then, I will be sure to write about how I find the role and working with a team virtually.

Since I finished my online courses (film distribution and screen writing), I’ve been looking into other classes that Future Learn offer. These courses and filming a video for the university, improved my knowledge of video production and ideologies behind videography. I am also still exercising every day and selling clothes on Depop. Doing this alongside meditating and yoga are great ways of staying positive during this time. I started reading the Great Gatsby for probably the millionth time and while reading I do the plank exercise, kills me a little bit but a good way to stay active!

Here’s a photo from a trip to Sri Lanka, hopefully we will all be travelling again soon!

Until next time,
