Tips for the new term

Starting the new term can be both an exciting yet sometimes worrying experience as you don’t know what to expect or how to tackle the assignments or revision for exams. This can cause you to forget to take care of your health and wellbeing.

Here are some tips:

  1. Get proper sleep! This is something I have personally struggled with in the past few years. A specific reason is that I was drinking way too much coffee throughout the day which led me to stay wide awake in my bed until 4am! If you really can’t live without it, have a smaller mug in the morning but avoid having it in the afternoon.
  2. Try and drink water and eat fruit! This can be obvious but many forget. Mix it up with a having nuts and yogurt on the side with some apple slices or any other fruit.
  3. Start your work early! This is another obvious one but a 1000-word essay can take longer than you may think due to the planning and re-drafting needed so start it when your assigned it as two months can go quick!
  4. Try to avoid distractions such as Netflix when meeting a deadline. A good way is to work from 9-5 with breaks in between and then relax with a TV show or film or a book. This way, you’re not working 12 hours a day in your room a few days before the deadline!

However you go about your studying habits, try not to be too down on yourself if you don’t understand a certain subject. State your difficulties to your tutor who can go through the material you don’t understand.

Lastly, make healthy food fun too! The photo above is a salad I made a while back which I need to make again. It’s rocket, strawberries, feta, crushed walnuts and balsamic vinegar.

Have a good week all!
