About
Bruce Stanley is a Professor of International Relations at Richmond, where he teaches politics of international law, global governance, security studies, politics of the Middle East, and conflict and peace studies. He has served as a consultant to the EU, USAID, the Quakers and various NGO donors; was Country Director in Palestine for a development NGO; and has served on the Boards of a number of NGOs supporting human rights.
He has taught in the postgraduate programmes at SOAS, the University of Exeter, and Syracuse University. Dr. Stanley helped develop and manage International Relations departments at Rhodes College, University of Pennsylvania, Huron University, and Hult International Business School, and served as Provost and Executive Director for branch campuses of other universities. He has led semester-long study abroad programmes in Jerusalem and Amman.
His scholarship includes contributions on issues of conflict resolution, social movements, Israel/Palestine, and global cities; he is currently writing a book on ‘Middle East City Networks’, and a chapter for an edited volume on resilience in the Middle East/North African city.
