Richmond Professor explores interpretations of female Cuban workers

Dr Daliany Jerónimo Kersh, funded by Richmond, The American International University in London, presented her paper on individual and collective interpretations of female Cuban workers at the 44th annual Caribbean Studies Association held in Colombia earlier this month.

Dr Kersh, who is Assistant Professor in International History and International Relations at Richmond, said, “The interdisciplinary conference was overwhelmingly composed of women of colour who are significantly under-represented in academia and, without exception, they all delivered intellectually stimulating, innovative, and engaging papers with passion and enthusiasm. The atmosphere was one of collaboration with faculty members mentoring graduate students and there was also a special historical talk held in the house where Simon Bolívar died, who was the architect of Latin American independence.”
