Dr Rafal Soborski, Professor of International Politics at Richmond, chaired the Thirteenth Global Studies Conference this summer. The special theme was, “Globalization and Social Movements: Familiar Patterns, New Constellations”. The conference was still a great success with almost 100 virtual presentations (the programme is available here

Rafal is Editor of the International Journal of Interdisciplinary Global Studies and chairs the Global Studies Research Network.

He will also chair the 2021 edition of the Global Studies Conference which will be held at Concordia University in Montreal (5–6 June). Due to the uncertainty associated with COVID-19, the 2021 conference is being planned as a blended experience, with session types explicitly designed to make the most of both online and place-based social knowledge processes. The theme of the conference will be “Life after Pandemic: Towards a New Global Biopolitics?”. Proposals are invited for paper presentations, workshops/interactive sessions, posters/exhibits, colloquia, focused discussions, innovation showcases, virtual posters, or virtual lightning talks.
