Richmond alumni builds Kangaroo Minds, a Mental Health start-up

A former student at Richmond, The American International University in London, Vedica Podar has created her own start up, Kangaroo Minds which focusses on promoting Mental Health and Wellbeing.

Kangaroo Minds is dedicated to spreading awareness, providing support and building knowledge around Mental Health. It also aims to encourage conversations about mental health while helping individuals to prioritise their Mental Health and overall wellbeing.

Vedica graduated from Richmond in 2015 with a BA in Business Administration (International Business) and a minor in Psychology with Summa Cum Laude Honours.  Vedica has also just completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) at Richmond with Distinction.

Over the years, Vedica has worked tirelessly in this space and her efforts on promoting Mental Health and Wellbeing were also previously recognised with the Diana Award in 2019.

More recently, while completing her MBA at Richmond, Vedica chose to write her dissertation on the need for and importance of Mental Health promotion in schools. She continues her work in various capacities in the space of Mental Health, including being the Mental Health Ambassador for Richmond.

Vedica said, “While mental health has always been important to me and I’ve strived to build awareness of it, because of the Covid-19 pandemic we are now seeing it’s even more important to take care of ourselves, focusing on what really matters and prioritising our own mental health and wellbeing.  Through Kangaroo Minds, I hope we can change the narratives around mental health while we look to not just spread awareness through conversations and campaigns, but also provide support and knowledge through our other initiatives.”
