Programme Overview

Richmond is the only university that has successfully developed a US-accredited postgraduate programme in International Sports Business offered in the UK. Richmond’s one-year full-time Master’s programme in International Sports Business provides students the opportunity to gain the necessary first hand-experience in sports business management that is crucial to excelling in the industry.

The MA International Sports Business programme aims to develop students understanding of sports business in an international context. Our Master’s degree in International Sports Business combines traditional teaching and research with hands-on experiences that is underpinned by the best sports industry practice, knowledge and partnerships. Students are fully immersed in the sports industry and are able to develop a network of world-class industry contacts.

A key feature of this programme is that students will have an opportunity to combine their knowledge gained from their course projects with an internship while developing a research project on a subject that is of specific interest to the student and their career ambitions.

Curriculum Overview
MA International Sports Business programme provides a focus on sports marketing, law, venue and athlete management, leadership, and management. Students will engage in personal development throughout the program through enhancing their managerial and organizational skills. Students will also learn how to apply theory into practice through their individualized final project/dissertation and internships.

  • Entry requirements

    A first degree in any discipline with a minimum classification of 2.1 (Upper Second Class Honours) or its international equivalent

  • English requirements (non native English speakers)

    IELTS 6.5 with 5.5 in each Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing
    TOEFL (IBT) 87 overall with: Listening 21, Reading 22, Writing 21, Speaking 23

    You apply directly using our online application form. In order to submit your application, you will need the following information:

    • Details of your education history, including the dates of all exams/assessments
    • The email address of your referee who we can request a reference from, or alternatively an electronic copy of your academic reference
    • A personal statement – this can either be uploaded as a Word Document or PDF, or completed online
    • An electronic copy of your ongoing studies or completed transcript or degree award certificate

    When to apply

    We encourage you to complete your application as early as possible, even if you are still completing your undergraduate programme. In this case you will be offered a place that is conditional on successfully completing a specified qualification and English language test if applicable. If you would like your application to be considered for a Richmond scholarship, we strongly recommend to apply asap.

    Admission is by interview unless you live outside the UK when we may interview you via Skype or by telephone. We may also determine your suitability on the basis of your application and qualifications.
