Programme Overview

MA International Sports Business with Football is a unique postgraduate programme that provides students with an excellent opportunity to combine the study of the sports business management industry with football training, team management and coaching. This programme is ideally suited for candidates who have an active interest in soccer, who are seeking a solid foundation in strategic International Sports Business, and who seek the opportunity to building a career in the sports industry.

The MA International Sports Business with Football programme is run in conjunction with the Richmond International Academic and Soccer Academy (RIASA) and is offered at our Richmond campus with the athletic and coaching component held at the Bank of England Sports Centre.

The programme also provides students with an opportunity to play in a top quality soccer academy at the graduate level with professional coaching and playing opportunities with a rigorous training and playing schedule. RIASA London student-athletes will partake in the British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) leagues and play against other universities from across the UK. In addition, all student-athletes will get the opportunity to play in RIASA’s infamous showcase games against some of the country’s most accomplished professional academies and reserve teams.

A key feature of this programme is that students will have an opportunity to use the academic and practical knowledge gained from their course work to complete an internship while developing a research project on a subject that is of specific interest to the student and their career ambitions.

Curriculum Overview
MA International Sports Business with Football programme provides an important foundation for developing a career in football coaching, football team management and the wider sports industry with a focus on training, coaching, sports marketing, law, leadership and management Students will engage in personal development throughout the program through enhancing their managerial and organizational skills. Students will also to put theory into practice through their individualized final project /dissertation and internships.

  • Entry requirements

    A first degree in any discipline with a minimum classification of 2.1 (Upper Second Class Honours) or its international equivalent

  • English requirements (non native English speakers)

    IELTS 6.5 with 5.5 in each Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing
    TOEFL (IBT) 87 overall with: Listening 21, Reading 22, Writing 21, Speaking 23

    • Details of your education history, including the dates of all exams/assessments
    • The email address of your referee who we can request a reference from, or alternatively an electronic copy of your academic reference
    • A personal statement – this can either be uploaded as a Word Document or PDF, or completed online
    • An electronic copy of your ongoing studies or completed transcript or degree award certificate

    When to apply

    We encourage you to complete your application as early as possible, even if you are still completing your undergraduate programme. In this case you will be offered a place that is conditional on successfully completing a specified qualification and English language test if applicable. If you would like your application to be considered for a Richmond scholarship, we strongly recommend to apply asap.

    Admission is by interview unless you live outside the UK when we may interview you via Skype or by telephone. We may also determine your suitability on the basis of your application and qualifications.
