Let’s Embrace Equity

International Women’s Day (IWD), which takes place each year on 8 March, has occurred for well over a century, with the first IWD gathering in 1911 supported by over a million people. Today, IWD belongs to all groups collectively everywhere. IWD is not country, group or organisation specific.

This year, the theme was #EmbraceEquity, with a call to recognise that each person has different circumstances, so they should be allocated the exact resources and opportunities needed to reach an equal outcome.

This video explains the theme in more detail.

Several initiatives were promoted at Richmond American University London to mark this important day, including events held by local councils in Hounslow and Richmond upon Thames which featured inspirational talks, discussions and networking, all on the theme of, ‘Embracing Equity’.
