An important new book edited by Kandida Purnell, Associate Professor of International Relations at Richmond American University London along with Amy Cortvriend, Lucy Easthope, and Jenny Edkins, and featuring many other contributors, is being launched on Thursday 23 March, 7.00-8.30pm GMT with an event at the University’s Chiswick Park campus which will also be live online.

Entitled, ‘When This is Over: Reflections on an Unequal Pandemic’ this new book examines the impact of the UK’s first lockdown in response to the COVID-19 virus.

‘When This is Over’ combines analysis and critique from a wide range of contributors, as well as poetry, artwork, and personal accounts from those who experienced it, to show how particular persons and communities were affected disproportionately through the pandemic, and how existing inequalities and injustices were exacerbated.

Chaired by Eunice Goes, Professor of Politics at Richmond American University London and with an introduction from the ‘When This Is Over’ editorial team, panellists at the event on Thursday 23 March will include a bereaved family member/activist, a commentator, disaster planner, and an academic to provide a truly inclusive overview of this global disaster lived up close.

Copies of the book will be on sale afterwards and contributors are willing to sign them on request.

This will be a hybrid event: please email Kandida Purnell: PurnelK@richmond.ac.uk to register if you wish to attend online. The link to attend the event will be circulated to those who have registered 24 hours before the event.

If you would like to register to attend the event in-person, please use this link.
