Join the Curator: A Conversation with Annu Palakunnathu Matthew
This is your invitation to join a former Summer Visiting Fellow at Richmond, Annu Palakunnathu Matthew, a multimedia artist, photographer, and Professor of Art at the University of Rhode Island, on an exploration of World War II through photography.
On Wednesday 18 November, 6.00pm EST (11.00pm GMT), Annu will be joined by curators Asma Naeem (Baltimore Museum of Art) and Carol Huh (Smithsonian’s Freer Gallery of Art,) to host a webinar which is free to attend, offered as part of The Studio, the Freer and Sackler’s virtual contemporary art space.
At the event, which takes place as we commemorate the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II, Annu will be shedding light on a lesser-known aspect of that conflict through her recent work based on archival photographs of Indian soldiers. It looks set to be a fascinating discussion on the incompleteness of our historical narratives and the political dimensions of historical forgetfulness. Annu is represented by sepiaEYE in New York City.
