Join distinguished former Richmond student at seminar on eco-feminism and pacifism

,

If you are interested in exploring eco-feminism and pacifism, this is your chance to join one of our alumni, Dr Adrienne Diop, at an event being held by the UK section of Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom (UK WILPF) on Saturday, 23 November, 2019 (doors open at 9:30am, event from 10am – 6pm) at SOAS, University of London in the Brunei Lecture Theatre.

Dr Diop, who will be the keynote speaker at the event, has had a highly distinguished career since beginning her studies at Richmond in 1978 and is now Gender Expert for the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS)  and former Senegalese Ambassador. Dr Diop was sponsored and invited to speak at the event by fellow Richmond alumna H.E. Keyet Makonnen.

The theme for the free event on Saturday is eco-feminism and pacifism, in an all-day seminar with presentations by many speakers on various perspectives on this theme.  The aim of the seminar will be to address pressing concerns regarding the impact of conflict, militarism, and over-consumerism on the environment; and the disproportionate impact of such things on women’s lives.
