‘It’s a material world’ for Richmond academic taking part in London Design Festival
Richmond’s Dr Jane Norris, Associate Professor, Creative and Digital Culture, will be taking centre stage at an event being held as part of the London Design Festival on Friday 21 September.
The Salon of Material Consequences will be an entertaining evening of live readings by authors, featuring design fiction, speculative writing and excerpts from recently published books on materials. The theme is people’s relationships with materials and their consequences, with stories, writing about materials, charting social collaborations with materials and writing which
explores the future of our material use.
During the annual London Design Festival, Brompton plays host to a series of exhibitions and events in shops, showrooms, galleries and institutions, and a curated design programme within temporary spaces in the Brompton district. The theme for the 2018 programme is Material Consequences, questioning and rethinking materials and waste.
The event is being curated and compered by Dr Jane Norris, @Janeviatopia and is hosted by the premier Italian furniture brand Cassina in their flagship showroom (238 – 242 Brompton Rd, London SW3 2BB), from 6.30-8.30pm, as a featured event in the Brompton Design District during the London Design Festival. Dr Norris will also be reading a piece of her writing, as will Francis Poku, a Richmond student.
