Jake Barber studied English (BA) at the University of Iowa and Second Language Studies (MA) at the University of Hawaii at Manoa with an emphasis on English Language Teaching (ELT). He has taught English for Academic Purposes (EAP) in Japan and Hawaii, and served as a Fellow with the U.S. Department of State on assignment in El Salvador and Sri Lanka, with an emphasis on English teacher education. He coordinates the first-year Transitions programme, and teaches Academic Literacies and EAP.
His professional interests include curriculum design and programme management. His research focuses on general education and core curricula. He is currently studying as part of the part-time MBA programme at Richmond.
