Day Trip to Brighton
11 September
Ah, “London by the Sea”. The roar of the English Channel , the squawking of the sea gulls, the screams from the fun pier, the smell of fried donuts, and so much more. Don’t go to Brighton expecting to find a sandy beach. Surprisingly though, on a warm, sunny day the pebbly beach will be heaving with sunbathers. A trip to Brighton is not complete without a visit to the Royal Pavilion, an outrageous, 18th century royal palace built by George, the Prince Regent whose taste in architecture leaned toward Oriental and Indian influences. In Brighton you can indulge in any retail desire you have. Skip the chain stores along Churchill Square and wander around the North Laines area where you will trip over one amazingly cool store after another.
The cost of the trip includes transport, the services of a professional Blue Badge guide, guided tour of the city, and entrance to Brighton Pavilion.

Weekend in Rome
24-26 September
No other city comes close. It may no longer be caput mundi (capital of the world), but Rome is an epic city bubbling-over and harbouring lost empires. One visit and you’ll be hooked. Rome has a glorious monumentality that it wears without reverence. Its architectural heirlooms are buzzed around by car and Vespa as if they were no more than traffic islands.
The city bombards you with images: elderly ladies with dyed hair chatting in Trastevere; priests with cigars strolling the Imperial Forums; traffic jams around the Colosseum; plateloads of pasta in Piazza Navona; sinuous trees beside the Villa Borghese; barrages of pastel-coloured scooters revving up at traffic lights as if preparing for a race.
Rome is a great city to visit! This trip will allow you to see the Forum and Colosseum, Capitoline, Monument to Victor Emmanuel, and a late afternoon visit to the Pantheon and Piazza Navona. Those who wish to experience mass at the Vatican will have the opportunity to do so. There will be lots of free time to take in the Vatican museum, Catacombs and more. When in Rome...
The price of this trip is £330 and includes roundtrip British Airways flights, lodging at the centrally-located Bavaria B&B (www.bavariahostel.com) and daily breakfasts.
For a small tour fee, we are also offering a very difficult to obtain specially guided tour underneath the Vatican itself where you'll learn about the early history of the Roman Empire and the origins of the Vatican today. The trip takes about 2 hours and will occur on Saturday morning. Truly once in a lifetime experience!
