The Office of Student Activities works alongside members of Residence Life staff and faculty to offer students services and programs that supplement their education outside of the classroom. These offerings promote student leadership, encourage personal development and provide social opportunities. Below you will find a list of activities that are led by members of staff, faculty or student leaders. In addition, the Student Activities Office is a resource for students interested in exploring London, traveling around the UK and adventuring into mainland Europe.

Brick Lane Curry Dinner

Thursday the 16th February 2012 

Join Student Affairs Staff for a delicious two-course curry dinner in Brick Lane at the Sherz Bangla Lounge! The Sheraz Bangla Lounge is located at the gate way to London's modern icon, the Bangla Town of Brick Lane.
 
The restaurant is located in the exact same building as the famous Ye Old Frying Pan pub – the location where the first victim of the infamous Jack the Ripper, Mary Nicholls, drank her very last ale before she was murdered! The Sheraz Bangla Lounge is proud to be among the first Bangladeshi / Indian restaurants, and be part of East End's rich heritage. 
 
The price of £10 includes a two course meal – you will enjoy a variety of Bangladeshi / Indian starters, followed by your choice of curry with either rice or naan bread.  Come and join us for great night of delicious food in Brick Lane!

Wimbledon Tennis Club Tour- London 2012 Olympic Tennis Venue!

Saturday the 25th February 2012

Time: The tour is booked for 1.30pm (Kensington students meet at 12 noon and Richmond students meet at 11am as check in is at 1pm) The trip will be led by a student worker.
Your tour of the most famous tennis club in the world is directed by Blue Badge tourist guides, and lasts around an hour and a half and takes you to the most recognisable and exclusive places in the Grounds including the Centre Court, No.1 Court, the Picnic Terraces and Water Gardens and Press Interview Room.
Admission to the Museum is included in the tour price where you will see the glittering Championship Trophies and equipment, clothing and mementos belonging to the greatest players to set foot on Centre Court. You should allow one hour to visit the Museum after the guided tour.
 
Location: Wimbledon or Southfields underground station.

Diving World Cup and Olympic 2012 Test Event

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to see the world's best diving in the Olympic venue ahead of the Games.  When you watch it on TV you can say that you were there first!

The 18th FINA Diving World Cup 2012 is a qualification opportunity for the London 2012 Olympics and testing event taking place in the Aquatics Centre in the Olympic Park.

There will be four events for men and women: 3m Springboard, 10m Platform, Synchronized 3m Springboard and Synchronized 10m Platform.

Time: The event begins at 7pm and students will need to make their own way there so allow plenty of time for travel and entry to the venue.

Location: The London 2012 Olympic Park, Stratford Tube Station.

Arsenal Stadium Tour

 Join us on this day trip to tour Arsenal Stadium and Museum. For those of you who don't follow football, Arsenal Football Club is a professional English Premier League Football club based in North London...and one of the most successful clubs in English football!

Ancient Near Eastern Collection

2 March, 2012

Dr. Dom Alessio will be taking students on a guided tour of the Ancient Near Eastern collection at the British Museum. The tour will be led by Dr Nigel Tallis, curator of the Museum¹s collection of Assyrian and Babylonian and a specialist in ancient warfare. The British Museum holds one of the world’s best collections of ancient Assyrian artefacts, and the tour gives students an insight into what was the world’s first super-power.

TIME and LOCATION: We will be meeting at 1:20pm inside the Great Hall of the Museum near the info desk on the right.

COST: The tour is FREE.

Dickens and London

21st of April

Join Dr. Loughlin-Chow on a trip to the Museum of London to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Charles Dickens’ birth. You’ll find yourself in Victorian London with the aid of sound and projections. See the London that inspired Dickens’ writings. Rarely seen manuscripts will be on display. Learn about Dickens’ childhood experiences of working in a blacking factory while his father was locked away...this is a trip you won’t want to miss!

Yoga

Every Thursday...

Instructor, Tina Abbey, will be on campus every Thursday from 5:15-6:30pm in the Library Lecture Hall 2, Hill Campus. She has been studying yoga for 20 years and has taught classes for 10 years.

Yoga is a way of life and is a system that integrates body, mind and spirit. In class we focus on a series of postures focusing on the the way we breath, and through these practices we gain more strength, flexibility, fitness, and ways to handle stress in our everyday lives. Yoga is for everyone although a level of fitness or body awareness if helpful.

If you decide to give the yoga class a try, wear loose clothing, bring a towel or mat to work on and try not to eat up to 2 hours before class.
