Optional Excursion to Rome (3 days)/Rome Pre – Tour (4 days)
Please note that the Rome trip is a weekend excursion for the Maymester students/7-week Program/Internship students and a pre-program tour for students on the 4-week Program.
During the excursion a local guide will introduce you to Rome’s history. You will visit the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, the Campidoglio and more of Rome’s most famous sites such as the Spanish steps, the Pantheon, and the Trevi Fountain. The tour also includes visits to Piazza Navona, Campo dei Fiori, Piazza Farnese and Palazzo Spada. You will also have the opportunity to visit the Vatican museums, admire Michelangelo’s stunning frescoes inside the Sistine Chapel, the magnificent Raphael rooms and St. Peter’s Basilica.
Optional Excursion to Venice (3 days)
Departure for early afternoon arrival in Venice, a city that takes your breath away. Free passes for ferries are provided. Students will take a guided walking tour including the Doge’s Palace, Bridge of Sighs and St. Mark’s Square. During their time in Venice, they will also
Visit the Accademia Museum – one of the world’s greatest art treasure houses, the churches of Santa Maria dei Frari, San Rocco and the Rialto Bridge and the Guggenheim museum. You will also be given free time to explore Venice’s riches at your leisure or follow an optional tour to the famous Murano and Burano gorgeous islands.

Students taking both the excursions to Rome and Venice can earn an additional credit when they register for ARH 273 (1) Introduction to Italian Art.
