Richmond Announces Partnership with International Football Academy

London, January 1, 2010. An official announcement was made today by Richmond The American International University in London that the University would enter into a partnership with The International Academic and Soccer Academy, located in Yorkshire, England.

The International Academic and Soccer Academy, in partnership with Richmond, The American International University in London, will provide a unique opportunity for North American student athletes who have completed their secondary education. Student athletes from the USA who seek a challenging university academic program in the field of International Business and Sport, and who desire to compete and further develop their soccer skills with top coaches in the highly competitive European Leagues, will find the program to be the ideal fit for their future goals both academically and athletically.

Professor Robert Leppard, Richmond Provost, had this to say about the partnership: “This is a logical relationship for Richmond on many levels. Our high quality International Business degree coupled with the Academy’s first rate football program will provide elite student athletes from the US with a unique opportunity to gain an American University degree in the UK while competing at a very high level athletically.”

The International Academic and Soccer Academy President, David Baldwin, commented: “Richmond The American International University in London is the perfect partner for the International Academic and Soccer Academy and we look forward to working with Richmond and anticipate a very successful and long relationship.”

Richmond Dean of Enrollment, Mark S. Kopenski, indicated that interest in the program from student athletes in the USA is already quite strong and “we expect to have at least ten applicants for every spot in the program for 2010. We anticipate a class of 25 student athletes but quality, both on and off the field, is paramount and only student athletes serious about obtaining a university degree and who have the pedigree athletically will be sought for the program.”
