1. Submission of Computer/ Host Name

In order for you to connect to the Richmond wireless network we need to (as a prerequisite) make a note of laptops unique Computer/Host Name.

Depending on your Operating System follow the steps listed below.

Please note: If you are running the Windows XP Home Operating system, you wont have a Computer/Host Name at all, thus this won't apply to you.

When entering the Computer/Host Name please be as exact as possible, changing your Computer/Host Name after registration will automatically unregister you and you will have to reapply for the service.

To find your Computer/Host Name for PC Windows XP Professional/2000
1. Click...Start button...(located on the task bar)
2. Click on Run
3. Type Command, then click on the OK button
4. You will now see a Black Screen, at the prompt type: ipconfig/all
5. Computer Name is listed as the Host Name.

OR go to Start|Control Panel|System|Computer Name and it will be what ever the Full Computer Name is.

 

2. Submission of Mac Addresses

In order for you to connect to the Richmond wireless network we need to (as a prerequisite) make a note of your network card's unique internal MAC address (also known as Physical Address, Ethernet Address, and Airport Address).


Depending on your Operating System follow the steps listed below.

Please note: the adapter address for the PPP adapter is NOT the same as the adapter Mac address for the network card. When entering the Mac Address on the application, please drop special punctuation and include only the 12 characters of the address.

To find your Mac Address for PC Windows XP/2000
1. Click...Start button...(located on the task bar)
2. Click on Run
3. Type Command, then click on the OK button
4. You will now see a Black Screen, at the prompt type: ipconfig /all
5. Mac Address is listed as the Physical address. IMPORTANT: Be sure to retrieve the address listed for the Wireless LAN card; information for any other network card will be listed as well.
