Overview
The Centre for New Media, CNM, is an Apple Macintosh based computer lab supporting the Departments of Communications and Art, Design and Media. It is located in the basement of Asa Briggs Hall at the Kensington Campus. Priority access to the lab is given to those students currently enrolled in courses that take place in the CNM. Others may access the lab after they have attended an induction session. Click here for hours that the lab is open.
Hardware
The lab has 18 workstations, 2 flatbed scanning stations, both a 35mm negative scanner and a medium format negative scanner, a colour laser printers and a large format 24 inch photo inkjet printer. There are also facilities for video/sound digitizing, output of computer-generated material to CD/DVD and computer output to 35mm negative/ positive film. In addition, there are two separate video editing suites running Final Cut Pro. The Lab runs its own web server that is linked to the Campus Wide Information Services (CWIS).

Staff
| The CNM Support Officer is Matthew Butterfield. He is responsible for the lab maintenance and general technical support to both faculty and students. He also supports the Final Cut Pro edit suites. He can be found in ASA Briggs Hall 010 (office next to the lab) and on extension 403 (external 020-7368-8403). Email is butterm@richmond.ac.uk. During term time his hours are 9am-5pm on Mondays and Fridays, 1pm-9pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. |
